http://www.moxiemaxwell.com

Well folks, it has been a few weeks since I have been on here. I do apologize for this but I thought I had the opportunity that I wanted, so I tested the waters to see if I still wanted to be full time in Sales, and the answer to that is “NO”. It would be much more advantageous for me and a prospective employer to pick me up, so they can utilize my knowledge and energy however they see fit to use it, and let me do my thang to help them make and save money at the same time.

So be sure to stay tuned, because “MOXIE MAXWELL” is coming through and let’s see which business has what it takes to bring me on to make things happen.

LETS GET BACK TO THE SCHOOL OF MOXIE!!!!!

http://www.moxiemaxwell.com

The past couple of weeks has been crazy. I have been submitting my resume and application to just about anywhere that I can. The responses just started coming in and I must say it is time consuming, but I know it will work out in the end.

As most people know that I am not one to sit around and wait, I have called some of these prospective employers to verify that they have received my resume and or application. Some companies are very nice about it and either tell me they will get back to me or just tell me no, but what I find the most interesting are the companies that tell me I am over-qualified for the position that they are hiring for. I don’t think I am all that great, but I do know what I know, and have no problem admitting what I don’t know, but I don’t know how to make prospective employers understand that I want them to help me, so I in return can help them.

The most frequent comment I get is “I don’t think we can afford someone with your experience” or “someone with your experience probably won’t stay around“. I understand those statements and thinking being a previous business owner, but sometimes I think they should just think about now. I am a guy who can help them with what they need right now, and if I would leave down the road, that company would be further ahead anyway.

I just want my prospective employers to understand, I have a family to provide for, a mortgage to pay, and that is all I am concerned about anymore. It’s not like I am trying to take the world over anymore Pinky, I just want to live my life and be a regular person that isn’t in the spotlight. Well, almost regular, I still want to blog and post about things that annoy me.

http://www.moxiemaxwell.com

There are so many businesses out there that get started with Facebook the wrong way. Usually they do this by creating a user profile with their business name instead of a Business Page. Well, Facebook guidelines prohibits this and they are cracking down.

Now you can create a business account profile, but it is very limited to what you can and can’t do.

Difference between business account and user profile:

Business accounts are for individuals who only want to use Facebook for administering Pages and the marketing campaigns. Because of this, business accounts lack some of the features that personal accounts have. Business accounts can view all the pages but have limited access to personal profiles of others and can not see content on on other Pages that they don’t have admin rights to. Lastly, business accounts can not be found by searching or send and receive friend requests.

Common reasons for a Personal Profile instead of a Fan Page:

Most businesses who start a profile first usually do so because they don’t know how to use Facebook or they want to get fans quicker by sending requests to get friends and then turn their profile into a Page. This is not the most professional way to get started, but this way is very productive.

Now some people who start Facebook this way sometimes forget about certain limits, such as Facebook only allows user profiles to have 5,000 friends, hence limited your ability to continue to grow. While you are able to submit friend requests to grow faster in the beginning, it will slow you down in the long run. Most Pages that hit 5,000 usually start to grow quite quickly and gets more user interaction, hence helping your ability to find prospects or make sales.

Converting your Facebook Profile to a Page

You can convert your Facebook profile to a fan page by clicking here. Since profiles are meant for personal usage, they aren’t suited to meet your marketing needs for your business, organizations, bands, or brands.

Lastly, having a profile for anything other than an person is a violation of Facebook’s Terms and Conditions. So previously I stated about doing this first and that it was unprofessional, reason being is because if Facebook catches you, you will risk them taking access away to that profile and all of your content, pictures, and links.

In then, just click here and make it happen.

http://www.moxiemaxwell.com

I just don’t get it, why do people waste so much time and effort trying to get a free ride. The Winlevoss twins appear to be back in court according to the LA Times. The brothers are attempting to make a case in federal court in Boston that Facebook did not turn over documents and information during litigation.

They intend to ask the judge to investigate whether Facebook “intentionally or inadvertently suppressed evidence”, said Divya Narendra, the Winklevosses partner. Neel Chatterjee, an attorney for Facebook replied with “these are old and baseless allegations that have been considered and rejected previously by the courts”.

I have worked with many start-ups and even though there are a few that became rather successful, they paid me the agreed price, and I gave them what they wanted, then I moved on. Yeah there are 3 particular companies that I could go after, but what is the use, I have more important things to worry about then getting rich off of someone else and that is what I see these guys doing.

It’s like the rich only want to get richer and they want as much media coverage as possible.

http://www.moxiemaxwell.com

I can’t help but wonder why people do what they do. It’s like biting your nose off despite your face, how does that get you anywhere? If facts are laid in front if you and the math works, why not just do it? I understand I am the last person who should be talking about risk taking, but let’s face it, how else you gonna find out?

I sometimes wonder how life would be different if I made different decisions myself, but I don’t think I would have done too much different. If we all dwell on the past and don’t move forward, you will never learn anything, so having said this, I don’t think I have many regrets other than the time lost with my wife and kids. I do regret that more than anything, but then you have the argument “if I had regrets, I would not be the person I am today.” I like who I am, but I still can not help but wonder “why” about anything.

http://www.moxiemaxwell.com

The last week or so has been crazy! I have been submitting my resume to all kinds of businesses in several different vertical markets. I have been doing this because for the past 8 years being a consultant, I have worked for so many different businesses and I have had to wear many hats and now I am done.

I am still consulting, but on a much smaller basis doing mostly SEO and print media. I enjoy those two things the most as far as the labor goes, but I really enjoy motivational speaking more than anything, there is nothing like standing in front of a group of sales people and getting them amp’d up to go out and create new business.

I guess juggling dozens of clients, making business decisions, accounting, inventory, selling contracts, management, and being the janitor for almost ten years can take it’s toll on a person. I love to multitask, I love working on multiple projects, but with all of these responsibilities, you loose a lot of time, and that time is with my family and friends and I love that much more.

So I am looking forward to working for one employer and I am not really picky on what the job needs to be, I am just looking forward to spending more time with my family, probably being tops sales person or leading in production, and growing as a Christian.

The most important thing I have learned through all of this while being self employed is, you can’t save time, you can’t buy time, and you can’t make time, so you must live in the moment and I am looking forward to doing that with my family and friends.

http://www.moxiemaxwell.com

Searching is easy: all you need to do is type the words that you are looking for, which the Search Engines call “keywords” and Google brings back results that it hopes you will find helpful. If you have Google Instant enabled, the will appear as you start typing.

You can find what you are looking for most of the time with general keywords. I found several different ways from Google to better find what you are looking for. I am going to use parentheses to show a single search keyword query, so (up and down) is one search term, while (up) and (down) are two separate queries. Keep in mind that every word matters in a search, all words that are used in the search box can be used to bring back results. Typically punctuation is ignored example: @#$%^&*()+][\ and other non-alphanumeric characters.

Searching made simple

Keep it simple. If you want to find a company, just input their name into the search box. If you are looking for a used car, just try typing used cars and the or zip code where you live. You don’t have to be very specific for that can bring back results that you weren’t looking for, keeping it simple is always your best bet for Google always wants the search to be as simple as possible.

Think about the actual keyword you are looking for. I know we would like to think that there is a little magical leprechaun sitting in your browser that is going to give you the exact answer you are looking for, but that is not the case, Google is a software program made up of thousands of algorithms to help find the most like result that you need. For example, instead of typing (my car is broken), type (auto mechanic), because that is the keyword phrase that would be used on a webpage from in the automotive industry. The keyword search (in what state was George Washington born in) is very specific, but the web page that gives the answer may not have those keywords in that order. Instead us the keyword search (George Washington’s birthplace), because this is probably what content would be on web page that has the best answer.

Keep the keyword phrase as short as possible. The goal of each keyword in a search query is to find what you are looking for. Because all words in every language are used on websites all over the globe, each additional keyword will limit how many results are givien after your search. The purpose of doing a general search first may bring back results that can potentially help you further your online investigation for what you are looking for. Let’s say you do a search for (Raystown Lake Cabins) is a simple way of doing a search instead of (cabins for rent near Raystown Lake)

http://www.moxiemaxwell.com

Yesterday I made a post about the “My Park’s Card”, 20 minutes my post showed up in the number 3 position in a Google Search and 24 hours later it moved down to number 8. Here today I am providing a link to that landing page within the Google Search and we will see if it keeps the “My Park’s Card” article coming up on the first page results.

Testing SEO is very important for your website or blog. You want to be able to be found in the search engines that most people use, and then getting traffic from those results which could turn a consumer into a prospect, which hopefully will turn into a sale.

Some of the basic things I do for testing is using a keyword that isn’t heavily searched to see if my those keywords are even showing up. A program I like to use it called Link Assistant and one of my favorite websites I use to verify my theories is call SEO Moz.

Stay tuned for larger articles on SEO.

http://www.moxiemaxwell.com

As some of you that know me have heard me talk about the “My Park’s Card” quite a bit. Being that it is so closed to my concept of a Business Discount service that used to be called Gimme Local and I was able to help out Mr. Ralph Park quite a bit with the vision and direction, but Ralph totally gets the credit for the initial idea of the card.

My Park's Card

So you may pay a little more with Park’s then other Garbage companies offering discounts, but I assure you that you will get that money back almost instantly.

Two of my favorite places to eat are the Mount Union OIP and Top’s Diner here in Huntingdon County. At the OIP you just show your card and you buy a sub and get the second sub half off, that is a savings of roughly $3.00 each time you visit, and I personally know that there are people who eat there frequently and don’t know about that savings, but just ask one of the Mistrettas and they will tell you about it.

Top’s Diner has been around since 1959 and offers a wide variety of entrees and fast food. The ”My Park’s Card” will give you 10% off your entire purchase. So if you eat there 5 times a month and spend $20 a pop, you would have a monthly savings of $10, which is almost half of your Park’s Garbage bill.

One more business I would like to add is Huston Ford in Huntingdon, they give an amazing 10% off all regularly priced service work and related parts(excluding body repair). Seriously, how awesome is that. On average we spend about $600 a year in vehicle maintenance, so that would be a $60 savings the first year. So in the end here, if you did business at just these three places, you would make your money back on your trash bill every year and not to mention the other 160 businesses that are partners with the ”My Park’s Card”.

Currently the “My Park’s Card” outside sales rep just broke 160 business partnerships so Park’s Garbage customers can enjoy the savings that comes along with being a customer. I can’t see why anyone wouldn’t be a Park’s Garbage customer, it just works, and to you business owners out there, feel free to contact the “My Park’s Card” rep by clicking here so you can enjoy the walk-in traffic that comes along with being a “My Park’s Card” member, and the best part is, it doesn’t cost you “the business owner” anything.

Times are tough right now for consumers to spend money because so many business are continuously raising their prices, but there are still a few good restaurants out there that think about all of us that have thin wallets. Mount Union Original Italian Pizza is on of them.

Jack and Daniela Mistretta have been serving Mount Union, PA for over 25 years. They have primarily hired within their family to keep that family atmosphere and to serve people how they would want to be served. Their son Steven primarily runs the front end making the pizza while Jack’s brother Joel and sister Gaia handle the orders and hot sandwiches. Their waitress staff is made up of about 4 different women (I think) and they are great.

I think what I like most about the OIP here in Mount Union is, I like a sandwich the way I like it and they always make it for me just right. I call it the “Moxie Burger”, it is chopped up burger in one of the delicious sub rolls with a slice of ham, mustard, mayo, onions, and mushrooms. So the next time you are in there, just ask them for it and they will know what you are talking about.

I recommend anyone who is living or passing by Mount Union, PA stop by and have something to eat, you will thank me later.
